Ren’s Top Picks | May #aw17

My birthday month is coming to an end and hello June! It’s time to do a favourites post to sum up all my top picks for the previous month including both makeup, skincare as well as hair products and some accessories pieces. Most of them are makeups, an updated day and night skincare routine will be up soon on my blog focusing on the skincare products.

First thing first, I really want to give these two eye creams a shoutout. I’ve experienced serious eye irritation and puffiness recently and thanks to these two my eyes are recovering magically in a short amount of time. Trilogy is known as providing great products with natural ingredients. Go natural would be the perfect solution for my eyes in that serious circumstance. It says this helps to smooth fine lines, reduce puffiness on its package and it does the work! The gel/cream consistency makes it easy to apply and absorb fast leaving a refreshing feel to wake you up.

Talking about natural ingredients, the Kiehl’s midnight recovery eye cream is another must have for my eyes. Personally for me, I use it as nighttime eye cream. As it says on the website, the natural ingredients improves microcirculation and reduces inflammation. That’s exactly what I need to save my eyes. Also I do notice my under eye area gets brightened up after a few weeks of use which is a plus for me!

Moving on to makeup, I know the skincare section is way too little but more to come soon! This product makes my daily “no-makeup” makeup so easy and flawless. It’s the waterlock cushion with SPF 50 from Wakemake. It’s hard to find a cushion does well both on hydration and coverage. This provides me with the perfect flawless skin and hydration level without leaving the skin looking over dewy while minimising my pores around nose area. It does come with a extra cushion pack which I find is very good for the price point.

Face products continues. I’m not a girl who is into contouring back the days. I’ve tried one of the bronzer from Chanel limited collection which makes my skin look a bit orange. However, this bronzer from physician’s formula totally changes my life. Apply it together with the contour brush from Eco tools just gives me the perfect sun-kissed bronzing effect. The colour is not too orange or ashy for my yellow-based skin tone. It’s been raved all around the social media and it’s just worth the hype. By the way, the smell of it just makes my everyday makeup time more enjoyable!

Being a coral/peachy toned girl, the colour selection from sweet peach palette from Too Faced is so my aesthetics. It’s a palette you can basically use it for all the seasons and you can wear it to literally every occasion. This palette is more for those who love warm toned eye shadows but if you wanna go for a cool toned look, there are also choices for you out there.

Being a lipstick addicted girl, my collection is continuing growing. These two are my recent purchase and immediately became one of my favourites and I’ve been reaching out so frequently in the past month. The one to the left is “out loud” from Smashbox Always On Lipstick collection and the one to the right is “dreamer” from Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo collection. Having a easily chapped lip, matte lipstick is always not the option for me but I do love a matte finish. I’ve tried a lot matte lipstick and finally found the Smash always on lipstick being my top pick for matte lipstick that is not drying my lip. Also the deep orange colour is speaking my soul!

As for the Hourglass Girl Lip stylo, the silky and weightless formula blending together with the ingredients for hydration feels so comfortable on the lip. The colour is more peachy pink which gives your lip a healthy and soft looking touch. It’s the kind of lipstick that is more for daily wear and you can just directly apply even without a chapstick underneath!

Coming to hair products, I’m so glad I tried this brand out. I’ve dyed and curled my hair recently and I do start to feel my hair gets dry while my roots are a bit oily. This anti-frizz shampoo from Alterna Hiarcare bamboo smooth range provides me with strengthens, hydration and smoothes. I pair it with the hair mask for a intense hydration to the ends. I do feel my hair gets more balanced and moisturised after a few weeks’ use.

I’m a girl who is very aware of the smell around me and here comes to the “scent of the month”. Talking about scent, I do love changes according to my mood. Here are the several scents chosen for this month including candles and perfumes. A clean room with a touch of pleasant smell makes me calm and relaxed. Surprisingly, I picked up a scent which is not always the kinda scent I would go for. It’s the sweet strawberry and blackberry leaf scent which is obviously more on sweet side. I randomly discovered in a homeware store and immediately fell in love with it. Usually a light and fresh scent is what I prefer but I do want a bit warmer feel kinda scent for the cold winter. This sweet scent makes me wanna cuddle in a blanket with a cup of tea which is lovely to do in a freezing night.

As for the perfumes on the go, I picked two which are “Miu Miu Eau de Parfum” and “Elizabeth and James Nirvana White perfume”. Both are floral scented but the Miu Miu one is more sweeter than the Elizabeth and James one. Miu Miu Eau de Parfum presents with an elegant and sensual floral smell with lily, jasmine, rose absolute and synthetic green notes. The feminine and sophisticated scent from Elizabeth and James Nirvana White is a blend of peony, muguet, and tender musk. Personally, I wear Elizabeth and James when I go to work and the Miu Miu one is more for chilled and casual days.

The winter month is here and “Ren’s top picks” continues. X.O.X.O
