I’ve been on a short trip to Sydney last week and decided to share some of my go-to beauty products when I was packing for the trip. What products to pack into your makeup pouch when you have tons of makeups in front of you becomes a problem. Therefore, I’ve picked some of my recent favourites that basically go with every outfit and every occasion.
First thing first, for travelling, the primary concern would be to make your makeup pouch as light as possible by avoiding bringing bulky and heavy items thus cushion foundation becomes my top pick for my base product. I’ve posted this in my previous “Recent Favourites” blog post. It is the Waterlock cushion from a Korean cosmetic brand called “Wakemake”. It provides a decent amount of coverage with a natural finish while hydrating my skin keeping any dryness away, which is perfect for the winter here in Australia.
Usually when travelling, I do not bring my setting power jar with me, instead I prefer a pressed powder or compact. Coming to compact, this this Chanel Vita lumiere Compact (20 Beige) never disappoints me and I did re-purchased for a few times. For me personally, It’s the best product for a quick touch up. It controls the oil without drying my skin nor emphasising any dry patches.
Talking about a natural makeup look, I have to bring on this Tarte blush in the shade of “exposed”. The colour is more on the muted nude side with a hint of neutral pink, which gives you the perfect colour. It’s definitely a long wearing blush on my skin that can be built up for a more vibrant look.
Being a lucky girl that is naturally having enough eyebrow hair, there is no need to draw the strokes when being in a rush. I just brought the brow gel from Benefit saving space for my makeup bag. Definition and matching colour to my hair is all I need for my current brow situation and this travel-friendly brow product does save me.
Moving to eye makeups, I want to keep it as minimal as possible with neutral colours. The in bloom palette from Tarte, hands down, is definitely the best choice for a neutral look. Any of the mattes and any of the shimmers from total 12 colours goes really well with each other creating a effortlessly subtle natural look. The light brown colour also can be used as nose contouring shade.
Replacing makeup tools in order to save space is essential when travelling. I’ve downsized the brushes for my face makeup application but coming to eyes, 4 essential brushes must be packed. The little fluffy brush is perfect for blending and nose contouring. The large shader brush could be used for the overall eye lid colour while the mini shader brush is perfect for packing on some shimmers onto the centre of lid. As to the angled brush, I use it for lower lash line and even for a soft eyeliner sometimes. With only 4 brushes, any eye look can be done and even you can save your eye liner if you want.
A quick and effortless look during travel won’t be completed without an “easy-to draw” and “long-lasting” eye liner. Here comes to my all time favourite. The water proof tattoo liner from Kat Von D is always my everyday go to product. It glides on so easily and smoothly. More important, it stays put basically for the whole day! Go for the black one if you are going for a sharp look, personally for me, brown is the soft touch for a everyday look.
I really have to include the Benefit roller mascara in my recent favourites, the one helps to curl and hold the curl at the same time which does save my makeup time. It does the work as volumizing and lengthening perfectly. No more false lashes and eye lash curler when taking this baby with me!
Last but not least, it’s really hard to pick only one lip colour for the whole trip. That’s why I came across my lipstick collection and picked 3 colours for different occasions together with a lip balm. The YSL rouge pur couture vernis a levres glossy stain in No.15 is a pink-based lip gloss which gives the shine with lightweight texture that melts onto lips providing extra long-lasting wear. Nude is always a yes for a everyday makeup look. The Hourglass girl lip stylo in the shade “dreamer”, a lip product in the warm pinky nude colour, provides hydration with the silky texture feeling just like your skin. The classic orange-red colour I will always go for is the “Chili” from Mac. It has a brownish red tone which brightens up my skin so beautifully.
For a girl loves lipsticks, I always make sure that I can reach for a moisturised lip balm whenever I need it. The Jo Malone lip treatment enriching with Vitamine E does a great job on repairing any damage and restore while softening and smoothing the lip textures.
All the above wraps the beauty products that I will take with me for a short trip and my kinda travel makeup that I would like to share it with you. Hope you like it and find it helpful. More about my updated skincare routine will be up very soon! xx
